One afternoon, my son Amare and I were raking leaves in the front yard. He must have been about 8 years old.  We were talking casually and I noticed that the leaves were easily blown by the wind. I then turned my attention to the tree in our front yard. I told my son that the tree was still standing despite the tough weather it had faced. I simply asked him, “Why is this tree still standing?” Without hesitation, he responded by saying, "Because of the roots Dad.” Wise words coming from an 8 year old. 
 
Colossians 2:7 reminds us to let our roots grow down in Christ. Psalms 1:2 says, “They (meaning those that delight and meditate on God’s word) will be like trees planted along the river, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither and they prosper in all they do.” My prayer and hope for you is that you begin to develop a deep and strong relationship with Jesus through these study sessions.
